- Troop 5 has been very active at GNYC's fundraising events including the "Good Scout" awards at Sylvia's, the Citi Center Banking Luncheon, and the GNYC Financial Tribute. Our scouts have been honor guards and scout speakers (good job Jordan and Colin)!!!

Troop 5 earns 1st Place at 2019 Millbrook Encampment, May 3-5. Great weekend upstate included: patrol "skill and teamwork" competitions with troops from PA, RI, and NY; EMS demo complete with fire engines, ambulance, and helicopter; live falcon demo; and bonfire with DJ.
Troop 5 earns 6th place at the Big Apple Camporee, April 12-13, and survives another wet night before enjoying a beautiful Saturday of events including the SNAKEMAN and a helicopter visit.
Colin, Graycen, Fitz, and ASM Prophete joined 32 others April 6th for the Urban Diversity Hike in memory of Troop 5's Jamil Ahmed.

Thank you Willie from Nyack Ambulance for the CPR training and ambulance tour as part of our March 15-16 campout - football. chocolate chip pancakes, "spoons" & "murder", and a flash thunderstorm made our campout at Alpine memorable!!!
Fun, icy, muddy, and quick campout at Alpine, February 22-23, with tacos by the Elite Eagle Patrol, noodles by the Arctic Fox Patrol, and a Scoutmaster surprise for lunch!!! Good job collecting litter as our service project this month Harlem Troop 5.

Saturday, January 26th was a memorable evening for Harlem Troop 5 as we celebrated the life of Eagle Scout Jamil Ahmed. Over 100 family and friends gathered in the Corpus Christi Gym where displays, slides, speakers, an abundance of food, and fabulous fellowship celebrated the impact that Jamil had on so many from such diverse communities. Thank you all for coming and contributing to our memories of one who lived and now soars with the Eagles!!!
Fabulous Blizzard Adventure 3-night campout, January 18-21, at Scout Camp Kingsley, just north of Rome, NY. 7 scouts and 2 adults from Troops 5 and 61 joined 100+ others in winter sports, merit badge sessions, and, and, and... Our troops were the only ones tent camping!!! Waking-up to 6 degree temps on Saturday morning meant all qualified for the Polar Bear Award. A new foot of snow greeted us Sunday morning. We moved inside Sunday night as temps dipped to -12 and wind chills to -30. Our scouts completed 12 merit badges, Jordan won the "ugly sweater" competition, and our chili took second place!!!
Candlelight Induction for new scouts Aiden, Carl, Christopher, Finn, Graycen, Josiah, Nathan, Ramfis, and Taeveon. 28 merit badges were awarded at the Court of Honor!!! Thank you Mrs. Gonzalez for the PIZZA!!!

21 camped at Alpine this weekend, Sept. 28-29, 7 adults and 14 scouts. Both patrols cooked and camped independently as we scrounged up a second patrol set of equipment. Monday, Oct. 1 we will go to 3 patrols (for the first time in troop history) and have Patrol Leader elections!!!
Nine new scouts joined Harlem Troop 5 at our first meeting of the season Monday, Sept. 17. The Hike-a-Thon Fundraiser has begun!!!

Fabulous FUN for Harlem Troop 5 at the Rockland District Spring Camporee, Camp Bullowa, Stony Point, NY, May 15-17, 2015. "American Indian Culture" events included archery, branding, Indian ceremonial dancing, tomahawk throwing, food, drumming, animal footprints, monkey bridge, and crafts. Troop 5 served by helping put up the teepee and constructing the massive council campfire! Thank you Nyack Troop 2 for sharing a tent site with us and rescuing us from our first rainy campout!!!

Special kudus to ASM Ahmed for baking Peach Cobbler and a birthday cake in the Dutch Ovens over the campfire AND for managing the cooking challenge ALL day Saturday! Third tent campout, first 2-nighter, first-time in the snow... 3 degrees at Durland Scout Reservation, Jan. 30-Feb.1 - shoveled out ramps/stairs for cabins/bathrooms as our service project. Earned another Polar Bear Award AND the Durland "Camper" segment. Thank you Campmaster Jimmy, Ranger Keith, and Director Steve for making our weekend FABULOUS!!!

Troop 5's first patrol name is the "Hawks".
Troop 5 was awarded the 2014 "100% Boy's Life" ribbon which will be added to our troop flagpole. Everyone in our troop will be receiving the Boy's Life magazine on Scouting each month!
Thank you Roy at Rudy's Auto Body Shop for fixing the windshield on our van. Now we are ready to go on our first campout!
